Hi! Ashlee and Clare here to help you transition to a lifestyle that’s better for your health and better for the environment. We’re slowly making changes in our day-to-day activities: what we eat, what we wear, what goes on our skin, what containers we eat from…the list goes on. We want you to use this website as a guide to help you make choices, big and small, that will not only reduce the toxins that you’re exposed to, but will also have a smaller impact on the environment than the choices we often tend to make out of convenience and lack of knowledge. No one’s perfect and we have to start somewhere.
For me (Ashlee), it started with dry shampoo. Many top brands contain butane, propane, isobutane, and other toxic chemicals that don’t belong on any part of the body. I found a simple recipe, containing only cornstarch and cocoa, that worked even better than store-bought, aerosol dry shampoo (although now I often smell brownies when working out) and have been making changes gradually to clean up my lifestyle ever since. My most recent major change was the purchase of an electric bicycle to replace my car for my commute to work. Takeaways: clean hair and clean(er) energy feel pretty good.
And for me (Clare), it started with personal care products and home cleaning supplies when I realized how many chemicals I was putting on my skin (our largest organ) and how those chemicals impact your hormones. I found white vinegar and baking soda can be used to clean many household surfaces. Better beauty products were popping up everywhere and there are a myriad of different natural deodorant and clean makeup options so you can feel good about putting these products on your skin. I love the new products I’ve found and can’t wait to discover more and share them with you here.
We both have a long way to go. We’re not here to judge or tell you to do more, we know you’re doing what you can. We want to bring about awareness and knowledge. We want people to know they have, what seems small, but, in reality, is an enormous role in what happens to our environment. No one expects changes to happen overnight. Start with one small thing and see how it feels. Keep coming back here to learn more and feel good about what you’re doing because it’s not only good for your personal health, but it’s also good for everyone else because it’s good for the environment. Think clean and live green.
